So what do you do with that left-over Jack-o-Lantern now that Halloween has passed us by? Well, maybe not this, but you get the idea. With the holidays rapidly approaching, here’s a great twist on the seasonal flavors. Have a pumpkin pie for dessert, but have a pumpkin pie fruit smoothie with this delicious fruit smoothie recipe!

Pumpkin Fruit Smoothie Recipe (modified from original posted on FamilyFun.com)

Ingredients

  • 1oz. canned pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup milk or vanilla yogurt
  • small pinch of cinnamon
  • smaller pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (crushed) ice cubes

Directions

  1. Combine ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.
  2. Pour the smoothie into glass (this fruit smoothie is rich) and garnish with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or whipped topping.
  3. For a fun touch, add another pinch of cinnamon or a few colored sprinkles
  4. Serves 1.

To make this fruit smoothie recipe healthier, use skim milk rather and leave off the garnish (or garnish with an extra pinch of cinnamon - it’s good for you!). You could also ad a scoop of your favorite protein powder as a boost.
